24 players from Europe, split into six teams of four, are finally ready to fight on the various stages of the new Street Fighter 6. For its second season, the Street Fighter League: Pro EUROPE 2023 keeps its two-legged “home and away” format in 4v4 team confrontation.
This means the competition will start with a regular season where each of the participating teams will play each set twice : once at “home”, and once “away”.
THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE
Teams in the “home” position will be able to announce the order of their players and the characters they choose just a few moments before the start of the set. While the team playing “away” will have to provide this information in advance.
Each weekly set is split in 3 games : 2 “best of 3” 1v1 battles games that grant 10 points each to the winning team, and 1 “best of 5” 1v1 battles game that gives 20 points to the team that wins 3 battles or more. The teams with the most points at the end of the 3 games wins the match. If there’s a tie, a final 1v1 battle in BO1 will grant 5 points to the winning team.
The only thing that changes this year is that the regular season will span over the course of 10 weeks, instead of 15, which will give a more dynamic feel to the competition.
ON THE ROAD TO THE PLAYOFFS
At the end of the regular season, the first top ranked teams in the leaderboard are granted access to the playoffs. But unlike the regular season, the playoffs format is evolving.
First, the third and fourth place teams will meet for the quarterfinals. Then, the winner of that match will face the leaderboard second place team for the semifinals. Afterwards, the winner of the semifinals will meet the leaderboard top one ranked team in the Grand Finals.
For the quarterfinals and semifinals, the first team to reach 50 points will be the winner. Meanwhile, for the Grand Finals, the first team to reach 70 points will win the Street Fighter League: Pro EUROPE 2023 and, by extension, be part of the World Championship !
